Over the past months, I made a huge update to the entire website, reflecting my latest photography knowledge. These updates teach the exact methods used to create most of the images seen below.
This update also includes new and extremely fast servers, CDN, and changes in design to make your overall experience much better.
You can find all of the learning updates linked through my Learn Photography Page which contains all the learning material contained on this website.
The Start Here Page allows you to easily navigate through the entire website.
Another new addition is the Post Processing Before & After Page which provides step by step examples of different images during the entire photo creation process.
There are additional links provided in some of the image descriptions below.
You can also view each of the photos shown on this page, full size, in the newly re-designed image galleries linked below:
Moonlight & Sea Stacks on the Pacific
The Oregon Coast
CLICK HERE & watch me edit this photo from start to finish. It’s the second video down on the page.
Partially cloudy conditions with 25% through full moon are some of my favorite night sky conditions to shoot under. The clouds break up direct lighting providing more depth to the landscape.
This location is on the southern Oregon coast. I visited on the way home from a month long road trip to Death Valley, the Eastern Sierras, Northern California Coast ( Redwoods & inland coastal range ), and Southern Oregon in April and May of 2015.
One of my main goals and biggest personal challenges in landscape photography is finding unique locations and unique compositions for each post. Hopefully you enjoy this one!
Luna Peak & The Picket Range
The North Cascades, Washington
Luna Peak ( 8,310′ ) can be seen in the center of this image with the Nothern & Southern Picket Range to the right.
Luna is the tallest peak in the Picket Range. It’s possible to summit without technical climbing gear. Reaching the base of this peak requires extensive bushwhacking and off-trail navigation through some of the most remote sections of the Cascade Range.
We spent 8 days in this area exploring the river valleys scrambling a few summits in August of 2016.
Moonbows on the Wilderness Coast
The Pacific Coast – Washington State
After 12 miles of hiking to reach this location we set up camp on the wild Pacific Coast of Northern Washington State.
Hiking the exact opposite direction for a few days you would reach the North Western most coast of the United States.
There isn’t much going on in this part of the country. This is what draws me back year after year, month after month.
I spent 3 months in both 2015 and 2016 in the park, working on a personal project.
My goal is to hike all of the backcountry trails in Olympic National Park covering more than 600 miles. This year I will complete the project with a few more multi-week long distance hikes.
Thunderstorms in the Cottonwood Range
Death Valley, California
A 10 shot vertical pano still fails to show the entire scale of the storm. Some of the peaks shown in the distance reach more 6000 feet.

North Cascades, Washington
I utilized a few different dodge & burn techniques in this image which are taught in the video tutorials on the Dodge & Burn Page.
This image was captured on a week long backpacking trip through the North Cascade Range in August 2016.
